Messages from Saturday March 1 and Sunday March 2

Paul Cianci Hey guys,

Today was great.  We got here late yesterday, ate food, and got to know everyone.  The kids here amazing, but definitely wearing us out.  We went to mass this morning in the local town, and then got a tour of the whole orphanage.  We are about to play soccer against the kids now, hopefully that goes well.  Tomorrow, the construction starts (Monday to Friday). Mom and Dad, hope everything is going well at home.  Tell Grandma, Grandpa, and Papa that I say hi (and to check this site) Christina, hope school is going well for you. Nick, hope that things at Providence are going well. MIKE - MAIL THE RENT CHECKS IF YOU HAVEN'T DONE SO YET!

Rob Cunnane Hello friends and family,

Everything is going well. The view from the flight was amazing. So much green. We made it safe to the site and were immediately playing with 30 kids, throwing frisbees and footballs and kicking around a soccer ball. Its been a great time. We took a tour of all the property today and tomorrow we dig until we die. Hopefully not actually die. Time to go get schooled by a bunch of 11 year olds in soccer. Love you all.

Oh yeah, and all the kids are calling me Santa Claus.

Matt DeSimone Hey all,

Everything is great.  We met the kids yesterday and it's already as if we've known them for months...well, all except for the language barrier thing.  We start working tomorrow, and I'm really looking forward to contributing more to this already amazing place.  Hope all is well back home.

Justin DiBiase Hey everyone,

The flight to Honduras was good. As soon as we got here the kids immediately  starting hugging us. It has been great so far. The kids are awesome. We went to church this morning (we had to walk 30 minutes to get there). We also got a grand tour today, and tomorrow we begin digging foundations. HAPPY BIRTHDAY RUE!!!! Your present is coming when I get back...I miss all of you guys and wish you could experience this with me.  Now we are going to play soccer with the boys... Outside Midfielder 4 Life!!(Most Improved Player.. haha Dad) Mom, I am taking a lot of pics!! Ok I'll talk to you tomorrow and  GO PHILLIES!! Love you all!

Kelly Donmoyer Hey everyone! Just a quick note before heading out to play some soccer with the boys. The trip has been great so far. The 25 or so boys and 6ish volunteers (American recent college grads) have been very receptive since our arrival on Saturday evening, and the smiling, loving boys reminded me of the time I visited a school in Costa Rica.

Mom, I'm thinking of you today on your birthday :-)

Today we went to mass in a nearby town--very cool. In the afternoon we took a tour of the orphanage, including the site we'll be working on (a new classroom building). There are a number of projects going on. Andrew, I think you'd really enjoy seeing the projects--can't wait to tell you about them.

Enjoy our pics. More updates to come. Love, kel

Caitlin Glenn Hey All!

We're having a blast so far.  We got in yesterday and played with the kids for most of the afternoon...they are so cute and veryyy energetic!  They are so excited to see us and are very welcoming and loving.  Today, we went to mass in the town, played, and toured the Amigos site.  Honduras is beautiful!  It is veryyy hot and sunny- should be fun tomorrow when we start working!  I'm thinking of you all...I wish I could tell you all of the stories as everyday!  The kids are the best, they just run around, give hugs, talking and laughing...playing tricks on us, too.  That's all for now...

Love, Caitlin

Matt Maddalo hey everyone,

Rory McCormick yoooo,

the scenery down here is really something to see. It reminds me of Jurassic Park. The weather is pretty good. Its hot and humid. This morning we went to Mass in the town nearby. That was an experience. The Sign of Peace goes on for about 5 minutes. Tomorrow (Monday) we start working. So check the webpage during the week and I will keep you updated.

Jamie Mucha Hello Everyone,

We have been here for a little over a day now and it has been amazing.  Start work tomorrow so that will definitely add some more excitement to the day.  Hopefully I will not hurt myself.  For those who know me this is a common occurrence.

Mom, hope you enjoyed Florida and don't really need a vacation after the vacation.  Miss everyone else back home as well.  I will see you all in a little over two weeks.  Can't wait!

John Mulligan Comesta,

Everythings going great. The kids are really fun and very energetic. It is really hot and humid and we haven't started working yet. I'm enjoying it a lot and hope everything is good back at home.

Love, The King

Kevin Perazzelli Yello,

So first off this picture you see to the left looks nothing like me right now.  I'm actually clean shaven and look somewhat awake.  To all my Spanish teachers from over the years I can't thank you enough.  Knowing the little Spanish I know has prevented me from being the victim of many a joke thus far and continues to serve me well.  In fact, believe it or not I think I'm learning something.

These kids are amazing, I'm having a wonderful time and I wish everyone who reads this could know the happiness that I'm feeling right now.  That might be because we haven't actually done any labor yet but I think giving thirty or so kids piggy-back rides for about 4 hours counts toward that a little bit.

Mom, Dad, Jess, Matt, and Steve: I love you guys and don't worry I'm taking lots of pictures.

Angela Russo Hello All.  Honduras is so nice, the scenery is beautiful and the orphanage is such an amazing place.  The kids have so much energy and want to play all day long.  They are all so cute.  Today we went to church and just spent time with the kids.  Mom and Dad, you would love it here.  Mom, you would think the kids are adorable and be able to get in some quality crying sessions for sure.  Dad, you would love exploring, it is most definitely an adventure here.  Your culinary talents would be in high demand as well.  BB, you would probably just complain a lot.  Tomorrow we start digging twenty foundations that will be for a new school building, my extreme muscles will be put to the test.  Hope everything at home is going well.  Will report more once we start the digging!  Love, Angela.
Ryan Smoke Hola a mi familia y todos mis amigos en los Estados Unidos! I'm trying my best to remember what I can from high school Spanish class. Everything has been wonderful here so far! I was completely blown away by the beautiful scenery on the plane ride in (I was lucky to have a window seat). The countryside is very mountainous and extremely green. As soon as we stepped out of the airport in San Pedro Sula there were a number of boys from Amigos there to greet us.  Their enthusiasm and welcoming attitudes from the second we arrived has been very encouraging.  All of the boys have soooooo much energy and they are great to play with. They all have really great hearts and seem very happy here too.  It's a really awesome thing to see. Until next time, take care everybody and talk to you soon!
Joe Staeheli Yo,

It's awesome here. This area is so beautiful and relaxing. I really wish I would have kept up on my Spanish so I can communicate better with the kids, but it still fun playing with them. They seem so happy being here, it really makes you think about what is really important.

See ya soon,

Joe

Pat Veale Yoooooooooo,

hello everyone. it's really fun here and hot.  the kids are so funny, they play all kinds of games trying to trick us.  they have so much energy, i get tired after about ten minutes, especially after giving about 40 piggy back rides.  digging starts tomorrow in the sun so that should be fun and also tiring.  talk to you soon.

Dr. David Dinehart Hello family. I hope you ended up with a little snow to play with.  We haven't seen any flakes here.  Matt and Abby, Jeff says hi. He looks great and has completed 3 years worth of work in 10 months. Check out the photo of the bathrooms for the school. Your 1st clues are: Tomato and Cold Room. Happy hunting.  Matt, how was blue & gold and the party?  Ab, how was your first basketball game?  Shell, I hope you survived the hectic weekend!  I miss all of you.  Mom, Dad, and Dennis, hope you had a safe trip home.  I sat next to a cute little Down's boy in church.  Good luck figuring out how to leave a message.  How do you like the "Dinehart Grin" photo?  Former students ... the view from the cross gets better every year.  The students have been fantastic ... they've immersed themselves in the activities of Amigos de Jesus.  Monday we will see how they are at physical labor! Hi Gracie ... remember to limit those little blinking critters to less than 10.
Dr. Shawn Gross Hi Jen & Nicholas....Miss you both a ton.  Things are great here as expected.  Jeff has been working hard, and with help from the Honduran workers, has done amazing things over the past year.  Lots and lots of new construction.  Of course, we're still digging holes in the ground as you'll see in the next few days.  Nicholas, Buddy, you would probably do a better job than me of digging!  It's a great group...16 newbies and the two old guys.  All of the rookies are jumping right in and making new friendships as you would expect.  Jen, hope you're dealing well with the little guy.  Nicholas, hope you like the pictures of Daddy.  keep working on your golf swing and playing with the shoo-shoos....Love you!
Flat Traver Hey all you water fans out there.  My first stop on the tour of the President's Report has been great.  I got a last minute flight with Dave, Shawn and the students.  The weather has been great, but Honduras is as beautiful as I remember from my days in the Service.  Unfortunately, on our tour of the site, I was investigating a really cool drainage ditch ( you can imagine my focused excitement) when I was steamrolled by a herd of cows.  Now the students are calling me Flat Traver ala Flat Stanley and Villa's Maria fame.  I'm sending Kelly out tomorrow on a recon trip to check out sites for a dam and reservoir.  Pray for rain!
